Course Overview
This course is specifically for RSLIs and RSLTs who have completed the Introduction to Music Interpreting and want to continue developing their interpreting skills in the dynamic, high-pressure world of music festivals.
This immersive 2-day residential weekend provides a rare opportunity to explore unprepared performance work, BSL feeding strategies, co-working in pressurised environments, and the use of technology, all delivered in a safe, creative, and fully-catered setting.

What the Course Will Cover
Day 1
• The power of music through the body and mind
• Mindfulness
• Performance with preparation & Self Evaluation (practical)
• Technical Overview and practice. ance without preparation with lyrics (practical)
• Speed preparation with Lyrics discussion interpreting dilemmas and the role of the ego
• Speed preparation with lyrics performance (group)
• Positive and Supportive Team Working
Day 2
• Interpreting behind the scenes at festivals
• Unprepared performance with BSL feed (practical)
• Unprepared performance with special element
• Silent performance
• Sexual Sign Content - Discussion on professional etiquette and adapting to varied environments
• Interpreting for sexually explicit content (group work and performance)
On Completion of the Course, Participants Will Have:
• Explored practical strategies for working in fast paced pressurised music festival environments
• Participated in individual and group exercises to develop co-working and feeding techniques
• Gained insight into audience engagement, tech tools, and backstage demands
• Practised interpreting both prepared and unprepared content in live settings
• Received constructive feedback in a supportive and playful environment

This course is delivered in English (BSL Interpreters or STTR available on request)
18 Structured CPD Points (NRCPD approved)
A certificate of completion will be issued.
All meals, refreshments, and accommodation are included.
Cost & Booking
£595 per person (+ booking fees), including:
• 2 nights’ accommodation in a private ensuite single bedroom
• All meals and refreshments (3-course buffet style)
• Access to all training sessions and on-site facilities
• Shared evening social spaces to network and unwind
Please note that all deposits and full payments are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend a course, you may find/ transfer your place to a suitable replacement. A refund will only be issued once a replacement participant has been confirmed.
The Residential Experience
-> Day 1 - Arrival & check-in from 3pm onwards. Dinner served at 6pm (no training on Day 1 - evening social time)
-> Day 2 - Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
-> Day 3 - Breakfast and Lunch
✔️ Training takes place in: Millennium Theatre, Drama Studio, and Recital Room
✔️ Shared communal areas available for evening relaxation and networking
✔️ Private ensuite bedrooms (basic school accommodation, very cosy – but a step up from camping!)
