Course Overview

This course is specifically designed for TSLI's, TSLT's, RSLI's, RSLT's and Deaf Performers

This course comprises of practical skills required to safely disengage from an individual in order to reduce risk. The theory element of the course focuses on pre-emptive and preventative measures to reduce, resolve and manage conflict effectively. We use an array of scenarios tailored to similar incidents the team may face, to instill positive approach to teamwork and strategy.

It's better to know it and not need it, than need it and not know it.

• Behaviour Warning Signs
• Lone Worker Principles
• Situational Awareness
• Use of Force Legislation
• Reporting
• Restorative Practice
• Breakaway and Disengagement - This section allows staff to practice and perfect the techniques taught to disengage from an assault and make themselves safe. We provide options to disengage from an array of unwanted contact, including but not limited to:
• Blocking strikes, stance and hand position
• Wrist grab escape 
• Arm grab escape
• Clothing grabs
• Hair pull escape 
• Choke escape

On Completion of the Workshop, Participants Will Have:

• Have grown in confidence in managing difficult or conflict rich situations.
• Understand their rights to protect themselves, each other and their patients.
• Know an array of strategies to preserve their safety when alone or in teams.
• Will be introduced to free technology which can improve personal safety.
• Be able to demonstrate self defence techniques to breakaway from unwanted contact.

Facilitator Bio:

I am a security and protection specialist and expert witness in the Use of Force. We have worked in both health and social care, hospitality, events and domestic protection. Wherever there is conflict or risk of behaviours of concern you will find us.

This course is delivered in BSL
Course approved by NRCPD with 6 Structured CPD points being awarded to attendees – a certificate will be provided upon completion.

You'll receive automatic reminder emails 45 and 35 days before the course with payment details for your remaining balance.
The remaining payment must be completed no later than 30 days before the course start date to fully secure your place.

Your booking is confirmed once full payment has been received.

Please note that all deposits and full payments are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend a course, you may find/ transfer your place to a suitable replacement. A refund will only be issued once a replacement participant has been confirmed.

Course Confirmation & Minimum Numbers

Each course requires a minimum number of participants to run.
If the course has not reached sufficient capacity by 70 days before the start date, it may be cancelled in accordance with venue terms.
In this case, all deposits and payments will be refunded in full or rescheduled to next available date.
